The arrest comes months after the initial incident when Yorktown Police responded to a residence on Cording Road after hearing a report of a dog bite on Sunday, Nov. 25 around 8:30 p.m. The food delivery person stated that a pit bull jumped onto him as he was leaving the residence.
Further investigation revealed that the pit bull was allegedly unlicensed and unvaccinated for rabies at the time of the incident. As a result, the dog’s owner, 52-year-old Helen Mascoll of Yorktown Heights, is facing charges for unlicensed dog and no rabies vaccination, a violation of the Agriculture and Markets Law.
Friday, Jan. 25 around 8:15 a.m., Mascoll voluntarily appeared at Police Headquarters and was served with a Civil Summons. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Court Tuesday, Feb. 12.
